He gets to do that all the time as pre-sales engineer at mission critical hosting provider, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bulletproof.net.au\/\">Bulletproof Networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Waugh has played an active role in the Open Source community and numerous projects, such as Director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/foundation.gnome.org\/\">GNOME Foundation<\/a> Board (2003-2004, 2006-2008), GNOME Release Manager (2001-2005), committee member (2000-2001) and president (2002-2003) of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slug.org.au\/\">Sydney Linux Users\u2019 Group<\/a>, and member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linux.org.au\/conf\/2001\/\">linux.conf.au 2001<\/a> and <a title=\"linux.conf.au 2007\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linux.org.au\/conf\/2007\/\">2007<\/a> organising teams. He co-authored the immensely popular <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planetplanet.org\/\">Planet<\/a> feed reader, and was one of the founding employees of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canonical.com\/\">Canonical<\/a>, engaged in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\/\">Ubuntu<\/a> business and community development during its extraordinary early rise (2004-2006). Jeff then focused on the Australian industry and community with <a href=\"http:\/\/waughpartners.com.au\/\">Waugh Partners<\/a>, an boutique consultancy specialising in Open Source strategy, industry development and research (2006-2011).<\/p>\n<p>In 2005, Waugh won the Google\/O\u2019Reilly Open Source award for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osdir.com\/Article6677.phtml\">Best Evangelist<\/a>, which recognised his work on GNOME and Ubuntu.
