Getting excited about the Customizer<\/h4>\n<p>The Customizer is one of the least known yet most powerful features of WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>We need to get past thinking of it as the &#8220;Theme Customizer&#8221; which only good for tweaking colors and a limited number of settings.<\/p>\n<p>No, the Customizer provides a framework for live-previewing any change to WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>In WordPress 3.9 I led development of incorporating Widget management to the Customizer, and I&#8217;d like to get on a soapbox to get people excited about developing their own custom controls for the Customizer.<\/p>\n<h4>Bio<\/h4>\n<p>Weston is passionate about the Open Web, the freedom of information and the interconnectedness of people and devices.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s been heavily involved in web development since the late 90\u2019s and has a degree in Computer Science.<\/p>\n<p>He started a blog on WordPress 1.2\u2014when WordPress was just a year old\u2014and he started developing with WordPress primarily since 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Weston heads up development at X-Team WP, and he is a core contributor to WordPress and a component maintainer for the Customizer.<\/p>\n<p>Weston lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and two young boys, and he loves working from home so he can spend lots of time with them.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x-team-wp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/x-team-wp.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Customize all the things!
