{"id":5076,"date":"2024-08-01T13:56:47","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T03:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sydney.wordcamp.org\/2024\/?page_id=5076"},"modified":"2024-11-04T14:10:28","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T03:10:28","slug":"visa-letters","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sydney.wordcamp.org\/2024\/visa-letters\/","title":{"rendered":"Visa Letters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WordCamp Sydney (WCSyd) organising team can provide you with an invitation letter to accompany your Australian visa application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>We<\/em><\/strong> do not send the letter. <strong><em>You <\/em><\/strong>must print a copy and attach it to your visa application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>We <\/em><\/strong>do not process your visa. <strong><em>You <\/em><\/strong>must apply to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homeaffairs.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Australian Department of Home Affairs<\/a> for a visa to enter Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You <strong>MUST <\/strong>have a ticket before the letter is provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our invitation letter will state the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>That you are attending or speaking at the event<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The dates of the conference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The address of the conference venue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The purpose of the conference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The conference website URL<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My contact details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Type of Visa Do You Need To Apply For?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#cfdece\"><strong><em>You<\/em> should check with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homeaffairs.gov.au\">Australian Department of Home Affairs<\/a> for the most current visa requirements based on your individual circumstances.  You can also call them on +61 2 6196 0196.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visa for International Speakers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conference speakers coming to Australia typically apply for a <strong>Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408)<\/strong> under the <strong>Invited Participant stream<\/strong>. This visa allows individuals to participate in events, such as conferences, as invited speakers, presenters, or contributors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the event is short-term and involves little or no formal work, some speakers may opt for a <strong>Visitor visa (subclass 600)<\/strong>, which also allows participation in business visitor activities, including conferences, seminars, or trade shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use the venue address in the invitation letter for the organisation&#8217;s address in your visa application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visas for International Attendees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">International conference attendees (not speakers or participants) coming to Australia typically apply for a <strong>Visitor visa (subclass 600)<\/strong> under the Business Visitor stream. This visa suits individuals attending conferences, meetings, or other business-related activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the conference is short-term and you meet the criteria, you could also apply for an <strong>Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) (subclass 601)<\/strong> or an <strong>eVisitor visa (subclass 651)<\/strong>, depending on your nationality.
